Bullet Strikes Man's Wallet, Saving Him In Long Island Shooting: Police

LONG ISLAND, NY — He dodged a bullet, kind of.

An unidentified person fired multiple shots into a vehicle, with a bullet becoming lodged in the wallet of a man inside on Wednesday morning in a Coram apartment complex, Suffolk police said.

Luckily, the man was not injured in the shooting.

He was not identified.

It took place at the intersection of Homestead Drive and Grant Court in Homestead Village just before 11 a.m., a police spokesman said.

Police personnel marked at least seven shell casings in the street where the shooting took place and there were several bullet holes in the car, Newsday reported.

Sixth Squad detectives are investigating.
