Pilot Safely Lands Small Plane On Long Island Beach: Police

The single engine Cesna's engine lost power during the flight, police say.

MOUNT SINAI, NY — The pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing in Mount Sinai on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.

The single engine Cesna’s engine lost power during the flight and the 60-year-old man piloting it landed it safely on Cedar Beach safely at around 7:30 p.m., according to police.

His passenger, a 59-year-old woman, was not injured in the landing, police said.
