Gas Leaf Blowers Prohibited In North Hempstead Through Sept. 15

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — North Hempstead officials are reminding residents that commercial landscapers are prohibited from using gas-powered leaf blowers through Sept. 15.

The Town's landscaping regulations — aimed at reducing noise and air pollution — went into effect on June 15.

Commercial landscaping is permitted between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Operations are suspended on Sundays and holidays.

Restrictions on gas-powered leaf blowers do not apply to golf courses and cemeteries, except when equipment is operated within 100 feet of a lot containing a residence.
