Paper, Not Plastic, For North Hempstead Yard Waste Disposal Bags

The Town is asking homeowners to not use plastic garbage or yard waste bags.

Paper or plastic? In this case, the Town of North Hempstead is asking homeowners to not use plastic garbage or yard waste bags.

These plastic bags are not able to be composted, the Town's Solid Waste Management Authority says.

Instead, residents should either dispose of their residential yard waste in a loose receptacle (up to 32 gallons in size) or in paper lawn and leaf bags.
