1. A man and his dog were rescued out of Lake Ronkonkoma on Sunday. The combination of a few good Samaritans and the police proved to be the difference in keeping them both alive. The citizens helped the man get out of the water, but the dog needed to be helped by police when they arrived. (Sachem Patch)

Tarmac Elementary School Principal Brenda Almendarez-DeBello allowed for the fun if students hit the $10,000 fundraising goal, instead raising $15,000 as part of a fitness-based fundraiser with the Harlem Wizards.
