  1. Fire broke out in a storage trailer outside a Selden home and a man was hospitalized. The trailer caught fire Friday morning at a home on Selden Court around 11 a.m. The man was hospitalized for treatment of a minor burn. (Sachem Patch)
  2. A fallen LI U.S. Army seargent will be remembered today. James "Jimmy" McNaughton was killed in Iraq in 2005 by a sniper's bullet. His family and friends decided they wanted him to be remembered by helping others in need. They started The James McNaughton Foundation which helps raise funds for organizations that help veterans, police officers and their families. There will be celebration of Mcnaughton's life today at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh, from 1 to 7 p.m. (Sachem Patch)
  3. Merrimac Elementary School transforms into the "Big Top" in collaboration with the National Circus Project. The National Circus Project is a combination of arts-in-education and a physical education program that teaches students a variety of skills used in the circus arts.
