1 Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Home Fire On Long Island: Brookhaven Fire Marshal

The single-family home was moderately damaged, and the fire deemed accidental, Fire Marshal Chris Mehrman said.

CENTEREACH, NY — One person was injured after a fire broke out at a Centereach home on Wednesday afternoon, Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal Chris Mehrman said.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The single-family home, which is on Bernard Place, was moderately damaged by the fire, and it has been deemed accidental, he said.

The investigation was still underway as of 2 p.m., according to Mehrman.

Suffolk police were notified of a fire at around 12:35 p.m. by the county's Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services, a spokeswoman said.
