WATER MILL, NY — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a blaze in Water Mill Friday afternoon, officials said.

According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, the working structure fire was reported at a residence on Head of Pond Road at 2:03 p.m.

The first unit arrived at the scene in four minutes and found smoke coming from the back of the house, as well as the attic, Brenner said. A working fire was transmitted and units went "right to work," he said. "The crews quickly found the fire and extinguished it and checked for extension."
