Mahopac Resident Arrested On Child Porn Charges: Putnam County Sheriff

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A Mahopac resident was arrested March 29 on six charges related to the possession of child porn.

Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reported that beginning in February, members of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation began an investigation after receiving information that a Town of Carmel resident had images of child sexual abuse material.

Members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed multiple search warrants, with the assistance of the Sheriff's Office electronics storage detection K9 Hannah, and on March 29, arrested 53-year-old John Towers of Mahopac.

He was charged with two counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child and three counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, both felonies and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor.
