Putnam Sheriff Announces 4 DWI Arrests In 3 Days

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — Three women and one man were charged by Sheriff's Deputies with drunken driving between Friday and Sunday in Putnam County, Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reported.

At 10:45 p.m. Friday, a Sheriff's Deputy traveling northbound on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley was struck by a southbound vehicle that crossed over into his lane, police said.

The deputy sustained injuries to his eye and hand and was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle was observed to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests, said police, who alleged she was using her cell phone while driving with a restricted license.

Jennifer Hunt, 42, faces felony and misdemeanor charges as well as traffic infractions. She was charged with felony Vehicular Assault 2nd degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, felonies; Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor; and Operating with a License Restriction, Failing to Keep Right, Moving from Lane Unsafely, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Operating a Vehicle While Using a Mobile Phone, all infractions.

She has a future court date in Putnam Valley Town Court.

At 2:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies observed a vehicle driving erratically, failing to maintain its lane on Danbury Road in the Town of Southeast.

They stopped the driver, 38-year-old Hector Buchyolos of Brewster, whom they said appeared to be intoxicated and failed multiple field sobriety tests. He was charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated DWI for having a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent.

He has a future court date in Southeast Town Court.

At 1 a.m. Sunday, Putnam County 911 broadcast an alert for an erratic driver in the area of Route 22 and 311 in Patterson. A concerned citizen was following the vehicle. Deputies began looking for the suspect vehicle and were able to locate it westbound on Route 6 in Carmel. They initiated a traffic stop after observing the car swerve out of its lane, police said.

After failing field sobriety tests, the driver, 72-year-old Kathleen Hibbs of Wappingers Falls, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and Move from Lane Unsafely. She was released with an appearance ticket for a future court date in the Town of Carmel Court.

At 11:20 p.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on Tammany Hall Road in the Town of Patterson during which a vehicle had traveled off the roadway and struck a mailbox.

After interviewing the driver, 46-year-old Elizabeth DeLuca of Patterson, and conducting field sobriety tests, they charged her with misdemeanor DWI and Aggravated DWI for having a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent.

She was processed at the Correctional Facility and released with an appearance ticket returnable in the Town of Patterson Court.
