Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

Damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado are possible. See the latest forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

There is the potential for multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms today into this evening as a frontal system impacts the area. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area under a marginal risk for isolated severe thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. The main threats would be damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado. Some of the storms will also produce heavy downpours, which could lead to localized flooding of urban, low lying and poor drainage areas.

Monday- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 83. South wind 6 to 15 mph.

Monday Night- A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tuesday- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 90. West wind 10 to 13 mph.

Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 93. West wind 5 to 11 mph.

Wednesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 75.

Thursday- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 93.

Thursday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74.

Friday- Sunny, with a high near 91.

Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 73.
