Upper Makefield Business Association Announces Scholarship Winners

The Upper Makefield Business Association (UMBA) awarded four scholarships ($4,000 each) to students from the local community in June.

WASHINGTON CROSSING, PA — The Upper Makefield Business Association (UMBA) awarded four scholarships ($4,000 each) to students from the local community during the June session of the Upper Makefield Business Association Meeting held at the Washington Crossing Inn.

The four outstanding students originated from Council Rock South High School, Central Bucks West High School, and Morrisville High School. "The applicants this year demonstrated exceptional qualities," remarked Mr. James Baldwin, Chair of the UMBA Scholarship Committee. "The individuals who sought the UMBA Scholarships represent the future, and judging by these students, the future appears promising."

  • Sophia Compitello - Council Rock South HS heading to Duke University/Mechanical Engineering
  • Riley Smith - Central Bucks West HS heading to Cornell University/Environment & Sustainability
  • Rysa Patel - Central Bucks West HS heading to the University of Pittsburgh/Nursing
  • Haris Qazi - Morrisville HS heading to Bucks County Community College/Computer Science

Mr. Harry Barfoot, President of UMBA, expressed his appreciation for the high caliber of student applications received annually and acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the dedicated Scholarship Committee in selecting deserving recipients. UMBA allocates funds for these scholarships through various fundraising initiatives conducted throughout the year, with the RevRun event on July 4 at the Washington Crossing Historic Park playing a pivotal role in generating essential financial support for the scholarship program on an annual basis.
