Youth Artists Use Their Talents to Raise Funds and Awareness for PAlyme.org

Imagine waking up every day feeling as if you had the worst flu ever. Imagine that you continue to wake up with pain, brain fog, anxiety, and crushing fatigue every day for weeks, months, even years. Imagine how that would impact your ability to go to work, school, or take care of dependents. This is unfortunately a reality for many chronic Lyme sufferers. Pennsylvania is the #1 state in the nation for Lyme Disease cases, and Bucks County is the 2nd highest county in PA for Lyme. This makes us ground zero.

A person can be infected with multiple tick-borne diseases (called co-infections) from just one tick bite, and many patients go on to have long term chronic symptoms even after treatment. Nearly half a million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with Lyme and TBDs every year, and cases are rising. Kids are at especially high risk, and 40% of new cases are children.

To raise awareness, 30 youth artists have created one collaborative painting which will be sold to the highest bidder as a fundraiser for PA Lyme Resource Network (palyme.org). Their 14” x 18” painting, titled Sunset Over Schofield Ford Covered Bridge, will be on display from May 1st through June 2nd at Countryside Gallery, located at 2 South State Street in historic Newtown. Bidding entry forms for the silent auction of this piece are available at the gallery, or bids can be placed via email at [email protected]. You can even call in your bid to the gallery at 215-968-2246. Bidding ends June 2nd and the highest bidder will be contacted shortly after.

In addition to the silent auction of the covered bridge painting, cards and prints featuring another collaborative student painting titled Springtime at Tyler Park will be on sale. Visitors can also enter a raffle to win a signed copy of "Tick Tock Its Lyme O' Clock" by local author and Lyme advocate Christa Nannos. Her book details the tools she used to heal from years of chronic Lyme. 100% of proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to PAlyme.org. PA Lyme Resource Network is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to education, prevention, support and patient advocacy.
