NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Chick-fil-A has filed a zoning application with Newtown Township to build a restaurant at the site of the former TD Bank at the Newtown Bypass, Upper Silver Lake Road and the Newtown-Yardley Road diagonally across from the site of the future Wawa.

According to a zoning application filed with the township, the new restaurant would be built on an existing 3.21-acre corner property, with frontage on Newtown-Yardley Road and Upper Silver Lake Road, at the site of the closed TD Bank.

The fast food restaurant currently operates a restaurant on West Road at the Newtown Shopping Center. According to township officials, the restaurant recently filed for permits to expand its kitchen and improve traffic flow around the eatery.

Under the township's zoning ordinance, the proposed restaurant and drive-thru will require several variances, including one for the inclusion of drive-thru service where one is not permitted; dimensional variances for setbacks, drive aisle width, and to allow the use within 300 feet of Newtown-Yardley Road and Newtown Bypass; and relief to allow for additional signage on the property and to allow a sign to face the Bypass.
