The extreme weather has prompted the closures of some coronavirus testing sites, including Montgomery County's community testing sites in Lansdale, Norristown, Pottstown, and Willow Grove.

While Monday is expected to be the worst of the heatwave, "dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected to return on Wednesday and Thursday," the Weather Service said.

Additional heat advisories could be forthcoming.

The National Weather Service has the following tips to get through the heat wave:

  • Reschedule outdoor activities to the early morning or evening hours.
  • Wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing, and drink plenty of water.
  • If at all possible, stay in an air-conditioned building and check on others who may be susceptible to the extreme heat, especially the elderly.
