PITTSBURGH, PA —Police are searching for the person who opened fire on a group of people in Downtown Pittsburgh Monday evening.

Pittsburgh Public Safety Department officials said police were dispatched for reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Liberty Avenue around 7:45 p.m.

Witnesses reported a man fired shots toward people standing outside of a store before fleeing on Liberty along with a group of younger persons.

Police obtained video showing the suspect approaching people and opening fire with a semiautomatic handgun.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation is continuing, police said.

The incident occurred just days after a man was arrested for allegedly attacking a 73-year-old stranger at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Smithfield Street.

Earlier this month, a woman was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old woman she did not know. That incident also happened on Smithfield Street.
