Victims Identified In Upper Dublin Twp. Fatal Fire

A husband and wife were killed in a Bellaire Avenue house fire Thursday morning. Their son survived the fire, authorities said.

UPPER DUBLIN TOWNSHIP, PA —The husband and wife killed in Thursday's house fire have been identified as authorities provided more details about the blaze.

The Upper Dublin Township Police Department said that two residents died early Thursday while their son was injured and transported to a nearby hospital.

They were identified as 74-year-old Stephen Wood Sr. and 70-year-old Deborah Wood.

At 4:13 a.m., Montgomery County 911 received a call for a residential fire at 900 Bellaire Avenue in the township's Ambler section.

The Fort Washington Fire Company and the Upper Dublin Police Department were dispatched.

Upper Dublin police officers reported heavy fire venting through windows at the rear of a home.

One victim, 35-year-old Stephen Wood, Jr., escaped and reported that his parents were trapped inside the home.

Wood, Jr. was transported to Temple University Hospital by Community Ambulance Association of Ambler with burn and smoke inhalation injuries.

Firefighters from Fort Washington Fire Company, supported by surrounding mutual aid fire companies, entered the home.

Stephen Wood, Sr. was found on the first floor of the home and was immediately removed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, Deborah Wood was found dead inside the home as well.

The cause and origin of this fire are under investigation, authorities said.

The investigation is being conducted by the Upper Dublin Township Fire Marshal with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal’s Office.
