5 Fun Things To Do In Bucks County This Weekend

Blueberries and butterflies, carnivals and car shows highlight the events for the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Bucks County.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The Fourth of July is over. But festivities continue for this long holiday weekend for most people.

If you missed fireworks for the Fourth, don't despair. You can catch them on Friday night in New Hope. And if you haven't hit a carnival this summer, Southampton Days is winding down and wrapping up with rides and summer fun on Saturday.

The calendar will start filling up with car shows and festivals as we leave the holiday. There are two car shows this weekend: one in Warminster and another at Washington Crossing.

These are some of the events this weekend in Bucks County:

Last Day of Southampton Days on Saturday

Southampton Days, the annual Lower Bucks County carnival in Upper Southampton Township, is winding down, with events on Friday and Saturday. Friday features a dog show while Saturday has the pie eating contest. There are also plenty of rides, food, and entertainment to make this a summer stop this weekend. Car Shows At Washington Crossing Park, Warminster

The Independence Day celebration continues at Washington Crossing Historic Park with its sixth annual Rebels & Redcoats Classic Car Show on Sunday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (The rain date is Sunday, July 14. The show features American, French, British, and German cars, representing the four countries involved in the Revolutionary War. It takes place in the Valley of Concentration parking lot on Route 32. Meanwhile, Nifty Fifty's will hold its July car show from Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at its location on 684 York Rd. in Warminster. Nifty Fifty's said its June car show had a strong turnout.

Fireworks To Light Up The Skies In New Hope Friday

Fireworks will light up the skies above the Delaware River during the First Friday Summer Series on Friday in New Hope. The fireworks are made possible through the support of the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce and New Hope Celebrates. First Friday features an array of local arts and crafts vendors, a lively Biergarten, and captivating live music for visitors to enjoy, all located on Stockton Avenue in New Hope from 5 to 9 p.m. (Read this Patch story for more details.)

Butterfly House Reopening For Summer In Northampton

Beginning on Saturday and continuing through early September, Churchville Nature Center’s unique Janet V. Mackiewicz Butterfly House and Botanical Garden will be open for visitors to witness the beauty of butterflies and blooms. The Butterfly House, an enclosed, open-air facility that features native plants, water sources, walkways, a nursery, and host plants, is also home to several diverse species of native butterflies. Peddler's Village Celebrating The Blueberry With Festival

Peddler’s Village in Lahaska will celebrate blueberry month during the long Independence Day weekend kicking off on the Fourth of July. Continuing through Sunday, the village's Red, White, and Blueberries BBQ Bash will celebrate the holiday weekend and the fruit recognized during National Blueberry Month in July.
