South Kingstown Police Arrest 11 During 'Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over' Effort

"Drinking or getting high and then driving is a bad decision that can ruin your life," South Kingstown Police Chief Matthew Moynihan says.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — South Kingstown police said they arrested 11 people in the department's most recent "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The mobilization, organized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, took place between Aug. 16 and Monday. Police departments across Rhode Island participated in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" effort, adding extra DUI patrols during the campaign.

"Drinking or getting high and then driving is a bad decision that can ruin your life," South Kingstown Police Chief Matthew Moynihan said. "We've seen a disturbing uptick in traffic fatalities this year and enforcement is the best way to get dangerous drivers off the road and reinforce the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" message. I want to commend our officers for putting in extra time to apprehend impaired drivers."

One of the 11 arrests involved a juvenile, so their name was not released. The following 10 people faced charges in connection to the efforts to prevent impaired driving:

6:11 p.m. — Isabella Nunez, 19, of Providence, was charged with DUI of 0.15 blood alcohol level or greater and transport of alcoholic beverages by underage persons.

9:13 p.m. — Jordan Alves, 25, of Pawtucket, was charged with DUI (second offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Aug. 23

2:27 a.m. — Jack Morrissey, 24, of Naperville, Illinois, was charged with DUI (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

3:57 a.m. — Jaime Cafferty, 32, of South Kingstown, was charged with DUI (first offense).

Aug. 27

5:34 p.m. — John Kaiser, 57, of South Kingstown, was charged with DUI (third offense or greater), driving with a suspended/revoked/canceled license (fourth offense or greater), obstruction of an officer in the execution of duty, and resisting legal or illegal arrest.

Aug. 28

4:06 p.m. — Linda Audette, 59, of Charlestown, was charged with DUI (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Aug. 29

12:45 a.m. — Sharon Cascione, 68, of Cranston, was charged with DUI (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Aug. 30

7:41 p.m. — Anthony Bavasso, 57, of Bradford, was charged with DUI 0.15 blood alcohol level or greater (first offense).

Monday

1:43 a.m. — John Albert, 25, of Narragansett, was charged with DUI (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

9:15 p.m. — Edward Aberger, 66, of Saunderstown, was charged with DUI 0.15 blood alcohol level or greater (first offense).
