Breaking: The Patch Local Events Calendar is Back!

You asked for it — you got it. Patch local calendars are back, with great new features to help you get the word out about local happenings.

You've emailed. You've IM'd. You've left impassioned comments on articles. A couple of you even yelled at our hard-working support wizard. For two years now, the message from Patch readers has been loud and clear: "Give us our local calendars back!"

We've heard your pleas. For months, the Patch Team has been at work building and designing a beautiful calendar to help readers learn about great local doings. We've also built an incredibly simple new publishing platform (called MyPatch), so users and organizations can easily post and promote their awesome local events.

And now: the Patch Team is very excited to announce that Patch local calendars are officially up and running!

Our new calendars allow users to easily share their events to Patches in nearby communities. They're designed to be search-engine-friendly, so your events show up nicely formatted on Google and Bing.

And, if you're looking for a big crowd at your event, you can now promote your event on Patch so it's seen in Patch newsletters, alongside local articles and on the front page of your local Patch. Simply click the orange "Promote My Event" button before you hit "Publish" on your events.

Want to see what's happening in your town? Just click the "Calendar" link at the top of Patch pages, or scroll through our Top Stories on your Patch home page, until you see events. Click any event for details.

To post events on Patch, apply for an account (We want to make sure you're real so we can keep Patch spam-free). We'll get back to you, usually the same day, and you or your organization can post away. If you already have an account, you can go directly to MyPatch. (Businesses can reach out to advertise on Patch.)

Click here for a quick tutorial on how to post your event.

We'll be making improvements to the calendar based on your feedback, which you can always leave here.

Thanks for reading and we'll see you on the Patch!
