Ed Sheeran Cancels Las Vegas Concert Due To 'Challenges'

Several attendees were treated at Allegiant Stadium for heat-related symptoms, the Las Vegas Police Department says.

PARADISE, NV — Ed Sheeran announced on social media that Saturday's concert is canceled, after numerous fans claim that people passed out due to extreme heat.

At about 5:45 p.m. PT, Sheeran took to Instagram to announce that his show at Allegiant Stadium would be postponed to October 28.

" I can’t believe I’m typing this but there’s been some challenges encountered during the load in of our Vegas show. It’s impossible to go forward with the show," Sheeran wrote.

Allegiant Stadium confirmed with Patch and also wrote on Twitter that the show would be postponed:

“Due to technical issues, this evening’s Ed Sheeran concert at Allegiant Stadium has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 28. Previously purchased tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date."

They previously wrote that the concert would be "significantly delayed", and that an updated door time would be announced.

Numerous fans commented on the post, claiming that many people were taken away by EMT due to suffering heat strokes from standing in 102 degree weather.

The Las Vegas Police Department confirmed with Patch that several attendees were treated at Allegiant Stadium for heat-related symptoms, the Las Vegas Police Department told Patch. It is unknown how many people were treated and to what extend, they said.

Thousands of attendees were observed waiting to enter the arena, KTNV reported. Additionally, one person has been transported to a local hospital.

Many people, such as this fan, said the venue provided little accommodations:

"No cups at the water stations set up, people sitting on hot pavement using other humans as shade, medics running around… whatcha gonna do here?"

Another person commented that the venue's actions were "irresponsible" and that EMTs were "carrying people out left and right."

Sheeran expressed his apologies in his statement:

"I’m so sorry. I know everyone has travelled in for this and I wish I could change it. The gig will be postponed to Saturday October 28th and all purchased tickets will be valid for that date. I’m so, so sorry x."

Allegiant Stadium is slated to host the Superbowl on Feb. 11, 2024.
