ACROSS AMERICA — Some Southwest Airlines flights across the country have been canceled, and others delayed, Wednesday morning even as network issues the airline experienced through much of Monday and Tuesday have been resolved, according to updated news reports.

"While our technology issues from Tuesday have been resolved, we are still experiencing a small number of cancellations and delays across our network as we continue working to resume normal operations," Southwest spokesman Dan Landson said to USA Today Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Agency had issued a temporary nationwide ground stop for all Southwest Airlines flights as the airline experienced system outages for the second day in a row. The ground stop was requested by Southwest, according to reports.

The ground stop, issued before 4 p.m. ET Tuesday, is temporary, NPR and others have reported.

Issues with Southwest Airlines' internet connectivity returned briefly Tuesday afternoon, just hours after all flight activity resumed following a nationwide stoppage Monday night. The FAA's order temporarily halts all Southwest Airlines departures.

"We are aware of system issues and are working quickly to resolve," Southwest Airlines said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Landson told Patch the company is "in the process of resuming normal operations" after "a brief pause in our flight activity resulting from intermittent performance issues with our network connectivity" before the FAA issued the ground stop.

"Our teams are working quickly to minimize flight disruptions and customer impact," Landson said in a statement. "We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to get them to their destinations."

A Twitter user at Dallas Love Field shared a photo showing all Southwest Airlines planes parked at gates shortly at 1 p.m. local time.

Southwest said Monday night's outage was due to a third-party weather information provider, according to the NPR report. Printed weather information could not get to the pilots due to the outage, the report states.

"While Southwest teams and the vendor worked to restore connectivity, we implemented a ground stop to protect the safety of our crews and customers," Landson told NPR on Monday night. More than 1,400 delays were reported as a result, NPR reported, citing FlightAware.com, a site that tracks real-time airline issues.

The Southwest outages are occurring during the airline's 50th anniversary week, with Friday having already been dubbed "Wanna Get Away Day," a nod to the popular airline's longtime motto.

The airline received both pushback and praise for its handling of the widespread flight delays.

"Get it together," one Twitter user wrote. "Can't even comp a hotel room last night because it was 'weather' related. Now today, clear skies but same system issues."

Another countered, citing the airline's quick response, calling it "communicative and transparent."
