Ashby Ponds Residents Help Students Pave Their Paths to Success

Thirty eight local high school students preparing to turn their tassels were recently named Student Scholars at Ashby Ponds

Ashburn, VA – Thirty eight local high school students preparing to turn their tassels were recently named Student Scholars at Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Senior Living community in Ashburn, VA.

These select student workers, who held positions as servers, hosts, and hostesses across the community’s 9 on-campus restaurants, displayed an unwavering commitment to service and excellence.

To recognize their dedication and propel their promising futures, community residents generously donated more than $300,000 to the Student Scholarship Fund—awarding students
a $10,000 scholarship, paid $1,250 per semester for up to 8 semesters. Additionally, six students were selected as named-scholarship winners, doubling their total award to $20,000.

To qualify for the four-year Traditional Scholarship, a student must work 1,000 hours during a two-year period, maintain good academic and professional standing, and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours per semester).

“Our student workers acknowledge how impactful these scholarships are,” says Philanthropy Manager Elisabeth Longworth. “Thank you to all the residents who donated! These awards set our student workers up for success.”

In addition, the One-Year Scholars Award, a scholarship worth $2,500, was given to 30 adult workers who tirelessly balance their work schedule at Ashby Ponds and hours of coursework.

“The Traditional Scholarship and One-Year Scholarship awards are just two ways that Ashby Ponds supports mission-driven team members who are eager to further their education,” notes Longworth. “We strive to make Ashby Ponds a great place to live and work!”
