Celebrate Summer Solstice In Loudoun County With These Events

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — We’ve been enjoying summertime events in Loudoun County since before the start of meteorological summer on June 1, but the season officially gets underway Thursday, June 20, with the summer solstice.

Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services will celebrate the summer solstice on June 20 with Play All Day VA activities. There will be events at parks and centers around the county, as well as free admission to all aquatic, recreation and community centers on June 20. Play All Day VA is a statewide initiative to celebrate the the longest day of the year with free activities to promote health and wellbeing.

Summer solstice events in our area include:

• Summer Solstice Festival: June 22 at Lost Barrel Brewing
• One Loudoun Carnival at Uptown through June 23

Play All Day VA activities on June 20 include:

• Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center: Family Fun Activities, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., Explore Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, 1p.m.-4 p.m.
• Claude Moore Park- Story Stroll & Play Space: 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Lovettsville Community Park: Hikes, Games & Crafts, 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
• Douglass Community Center: Gaming with Friends, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center: Yarn Mural Project, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
• Senior Center at Cascades: Cornhole & Ping Pong, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Loudoun Valley Community Center: LVCC Water Play Day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Hal & Berni Hanson Regional Park: Hanson's Big Splash, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Bluemont Community Center: Bluemont's Play Day, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
• Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve: Garden Learn & Play, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.
