LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A fire at a historic inn injured two people and caused $2.8 million in damages Saturday, according to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.

The fire happened around 8:48 a.m. Saturday at the Courtland Farm Manor Inn on Courtland Farm Lane in Aldie near Oatlands. Multiple fire departments responded due to significant smoke coming from the renovated two-story historical home with an inn addition.

The complex building structure, a rural water supply operation and wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph created challenges for firefighters in the response. A tanker task force and second alarm were requested to bring in additional fire units. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 90 minutes.

One staff member and one firefighter were taken to the hospital for an evaluation and were since released. Four inn guests were displaced because of the fire.

The fire marshal's office determined the cause of the fire was combustible liquid storage too close to a heat source. Smoke alarms were present and activated during the fire. Damages were estimated to be $2,838,528, which includes $1,774,080 damages to the structure and $1,064,448 to contents.
