STERLING, VA — A significant warehouse fire in Sterling drew a fire department response, causing one firefighter to be evaluated for heat exhaustion Monday afternoon. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue said the location was not a data center.

The fire happened around 3:08 p.m. Monday at a warehouse in the 100 block of Acacia Lane in Sterling. Units responded to multiple 911 calls and found the warehouse with fire through the roof. The firefighters had difficulty fighting the fire due to the warehouse's size and burning of stored materials. It took about two and a half hours to get the fire under control.

WTOP reported that the heavy smoke from the fire could be seen from Dulles International Airport.
