Former Loudoun, Chantilly Teacher Faces Child Porn Charges

A former music teacher and substitute teacher has been charged with a sex crime involving a minor in Fairfax County.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A former Loudoun County Public Schools substitute teacher and private music teacher in Chantilly has been charged with a child sex crime in Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Police say they received a report that William Riddell, 40, of Chantilly, may have had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. During the investigation, detectives found electronic evidence of child sexual abuse material. Police are still investigating the initial report of an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Riddell was charged with one count of possession of child pornography first offense, nine counts of Possession of child pornography second offense, one count of reproduction of child pornography second offense, and three counts of reproduction of child pornography second offense.

Police in Salina, Kansas arrested Riddell on March 30. He awaits extradition to Fairfax County.

According to police, Riddell was previously a non-school-based music teacher in the Chantilly area and worked as a part-time substitute teacher for Loudoun County Public Schools from 2008 to 2013. In 2012, Riddell was a paid Booster clinician at Chantilly High School, which is a not an employed position with Fairfax County Public Schools.
