No Injuries, Dog Rescued From Ashburn House Fire

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue said there were no injuries from a fire tied to a lamp in the home's garage.

ASHBURN, VA — A fire at an Ashburn townhouse caused no injuries Wednesday afternoon, but firefighters rescued a dog.

Around 2:10 p.m., multiple 911 calls from neighbors came in response to a fire in the 43000 block of Baltusrol Terrace in Ashburn. Units found smoke and fire showing from a two-story townhouse. Additional firefighters were requested, and crews were able to control the fire within 11 minutes of the first dispatch.

Firefighters searched the home to determine there were no residents inside, except a dog that was rescued. There were no reported firefighter or resident injuries.

There was no extension of the fire into the adjacent home. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical or mechanical event in a lamp located in a garage workbench. Estimated damages are $417,253.

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue units from Lansdowne, Ashburn, Moorefield, Kincora, and Leesburg assisted with the response.

In light of the fire, the fire department urged community members to use caution with extension cords and not overload them. Officials recommend inspecting extension cords for damage and not using them if they have frayed or worn areas or are under carpets or rugs.
