Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Sterling: Sheriff's Office

A pedestrian was killed in a crash Wednesday morning in Sterling, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

STERLING, VA — A pedestrian was killed in the Cascades area of Sterling Wednesday morning, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened around 8:20 a.m. at Whitfield Place and Cranston Street, which is in the area of the Cascades Marketplace and Cascades Library. The pedestrian, an adult man, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. He was identified as Zesen Mao, 81, of Sterling.

The driver, William Frye, 18, of Leesburg, remained on the scene and was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian. The sheriff's office is investigating what led to the crash.
