Porch Pirate Thefts Lead To Charges For Ashburn Woman

LEESBURG, VA — "Porch pirate" package thefts in Leesburg have led to charges for an Ashburn woman, according to police.

Town of Leesburg Police say Brandi Lowry, 44, of Ashburn, is the suspect of five package thefts. Police had first been notified of a stolen package that had just been delivered on Nov. 17 in the 500 block of Nivens Court SW. Police believe the suspect had been following a package delivery truck in a white sedan.

As officers searched the area, police received more reports of similar activity on surrounding streets. An officer stopped the suspect vehicle in the 1100 block of Coubertin Drive SE and found multiple stolen packages and clothes in plain view.

Initially, police said Lowry was involved in two porch package thefts. She was arrested, charged with two counts of petit larceny and taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. She was released on an unsecured bond.

More police investigation determined Lowry was the suspect in three other porch package thefts. Police obtained warrants for the three additional charges on Nov. 19 but were unable to locate her. She was found last Thursday at the Loudoun County Courthouse and arrested by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. She was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and released on an unsecured bond.
