Pro-Palestine Graffiti Affects 4 Starbucks Locations In Ashburn

Starbucks employees arrived to work and found pro-Palestine vandalism on the exteriors, according to the sheriff's office.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Vandalism of four Starbucks locations in Ashburn with pro-Palestine graffiti is being investigated by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

According to authorities, words and symbols had been spray painted on the exteriors of the Starbucks locations at the Ashbrook, Broadlands, Pipeline, and One Loudoun shopping centers. Employees had found the graffiti when reporting to work Tuesday morning. The sheriff's office believes the incidents may be related.

Loudoun County's sheriff labeled the incidents as "hate speech" in a statement.

"Hate speech and destruction of property will not be tolerated in Loudoun County,” said Sheriff Mike Chapman in a statement. "We are actively investigating these incidents as we do all similar acts and are determined to identify and charge whoever is responsible."

Starbucks shared a statement with Patch responding to the vandalisms and claims about its stance in the Israel and Palestine conflict.

We are aware of vandalism occurring overnight on May 20 at several of our stores in Ashburn. The experience and well-being of our partners and customers is core to who we are, and we continue to work with local authorities to support their ongoing investigation.
False statements that have been made about who we are and what we stand for are being shared through social media, which has led to some acts of vandalism. Starbucks has never contributed to any government or military operation in any way.
