Shoplifting With BB Gun At Loudoun Mall Leads To Arrest Of Juvenile

STERLING, VA — A shoplifting incident involving a Glock replica BB gun at Dulles Town Center led to a manhunt and arrest of a juvenile suspect Saturday, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies responded to the Foot Locker store at Dulles Town Center in Sterling due to a robbery and injured person. The sheriff's office said the suspect left with merchandise and discharged the BB gun twice into the arm of an employee who tried to stop him. The suspect left the BB gun and merchandise at the location and fled.

The sheriff's office set up a perimeter around Dulles Town Center and evacuated Dick's Sporting Goods for about 14 minutes to search for the suspect. Authorities say no other stores were affected.

The suspect's vehicle was located around 5:13 p.m. near a car dealership on Russell Branch Parkway. After being treated for a minor injury during a struggle with the employee, he was treated by Loudoun County Fire and Rescue at the hospital. The sheriff's office charged the juvenile with petit larceny, brandishing a firearm and unlawful wounding. He is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue treated the injured employee on scene, who declined transport to the hospital.
