FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Three people are dead, including two children, after they were struck by a train in Fairfax County on Wednesday, police said.

In a statement posted on social media, Fairfax County police said the incident occurred at Accotink Park Road in Springfield. The victims were walking on the tracks when the train struck them, police said.

The victims were all pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

FOX 5 reported Fairfax Police received a call reporting the crash around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident remains under investigation. No additional details were immediately available.
