Preschool Teacher Assaulted 3 Students: Fairfax County Police

BURKE, VA — A special education teacher at an elementary school in Burke assaulted three students over the course of the academic year, according to police.

Elizabeth Yoshimi Nagagata, 62, of Fairfax, was arrested Friday and charged with seven counts of simple assault, police said, adding the White Oaks Elementary School teacher was being held without bond. The school directory lists Nagagata as a preschool teacher specializing in autism.

Child Protective Services received a referral April 12 that a teacher had been seen assaulting a student at the school, and detectives determined the incidents occurred between September 2023 and April 2024, according to police.

Victim specialists have been assigned to ensure the victims receive resources and assistance, police said.
