Flood Concerns: Heavy Rain, Melting Snow Tuesday

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The National Weather Service Tuesday morning has issued a Flood Watch for the region, including Fredericksburg.

Heavy rainfall expected for the first half of Tuesday will combine with melting snow.

Rainfall totals across the area are expected to range between 1 to 1.5 inches.

This has the potential of flooding small streams and tributaries in the watch area, according to forecasters.

Urban areas prone to poor drainage will be susceptible to flooding, according to the NWS.

The time of the greatest threat of flooding will be from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening, according to the weather service.
