FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Brandon Pimentel has become the Fredericksburg Nationals' first position player to ever be named Carolina League Player of the Month.
On Friday, the 23-year-old undrafted free agent from El Paso, Texas was named the league's player of the month for April, which was also his first full month in full-season professional baseball.
During the month, Pimentel hit .351 and posted an on-base percentage of .993. He also drove 33 runs home, which tied the most made by any other Minor League Baseball player in April, including Triple-A, which plays an extra week of games. No Major League player drove home 33 runs in a single month in the entire 2023 season.

in addition to setting a single-game franchise record with 8 RBIs, Pimentel has scored two grand slams already in the season. In Carolina League play, he leads in RBI, extra-base hits and doubles. He's also second in the most bases and hits.
After losing 6-4 to the Down East Wood Ducks on Sunday night, the FredNats' record is 18-9. The team is second in the Carolina League North, behind the Carolina Mudcats (18-7).

The FredNats begin a six-game stretch on Tuesday against the RiverDogs (11-14) in Charleston, South Carolina. From May 14-19, they're scheduled to play in Myrtle Beach, before returning home May 21 to face the Lynchburg Hillcats at Virginia Credit Union Stadium.
