FredNats Opening Day 2024: Roster + Tickets + Fireworks + Promotions

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Nationals are finally back in action on Friday, with an Opening Day game against the Delmarva Shorebirds at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Friday's game is the start of a three-game home stand for the FredNats. After playing Delmarva at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday and 1:35 p.m., on Sunday, the team hits the road to play a six-game stretch against the Lynchburg Hillcats on Tuesdsay. They then return home on April 16 for six games against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, including a 12:05 p.m first pitch on April 17. A full schedule can be downloaded via the FredNat's website.

The FredNats are the Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, which had their own Home Opener on Monday, losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 15-8. The FredNats are in the North Division of the 12-team Carolina League.

In 2023, the FredNats posted a 65-63 (.511) season, which put them 7.5 games behind the division-leading Carolina Mudcats. The Charleston RiverDogs defeated Carolina in the first round of the playoff and went on to beat the Down East Wood Ducks to become the 2023 league champion.

On Monday, the FredNats released their opening day roster, which included 25 players who have played at least one game with the team before. In addition to featuring seven members of the Washington Nationals' 2023 draft class, the roster includes two former first-round picks.

Children 2 and under do not need to have a ticket provided they sit on a lap. Ticket prices are subject to the City of Fredericksburg's 6 percent admissions tax.

Promotions

Friday's Home Opener will feature the first of 12 fireworks shows the FredNat's have scheduled for the 2024 season. Kevin's Roofing & Attic Insulation will be presenting the April 5 fireworks show. All fans at Friday's game will also be receiving rally towels presented by Ray's Siding Company.

Saturday night games will be dedicated to a different theme, with the April 6 game being presented by the City of Frederickburg. In addition, the first 2,500 fans will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of Davis Electric & Home Automation.

The April 7 game will be a Salute to Service Sunday. To honor active and retired military members and first responders, the FredNats players will be wearing special military jerseys. These will be auctioned off at the final Sunday game of the season. The auction proceeds will benefit Semper K9, a nonprofit that provides specially trained service dogs for free to veterans with disabilities. SimVentions will be the presenter for Sunday's promotion.
