Sunny Weekend Timeline: Virginia Weather Forecast

Get outside, bring a light jacket. Will this be our best weekend so far in 2016? Here's the forecast.

We suffered through the long winter — much of the region may continue to see frost overnight Thursday.

But this weekend forecast has sun and 60-degree weather laid out in front of us for days.

The one important note is a slight breeze, particularly Friday and Saturday, but nothing that will keep us inside, right?

Floods and thunderstorms will target the Plains into the weekend. But, while that system lingers, we'll see a string of dry days with pleasant temps.

Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 62. East wind 3 to 6 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 66. North wind 5 to 8 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 69.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 77.

One thing we're not looking forward to: Increased tornado threats are predicted for May across the region, according to Accuweather.
