Winter Weather Alert: Updated Timeline, Accumulations

More snow and sleet, less freezing rain, according to latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

The afternoon updated on Monday’s wintery conditions increases the snow and cuts the amount of ice.

The big change in the forecast will be a spike in temperatures, going from the teens Sunday night to the upper 40s Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday. A previously announced winter storm watch is no longer in effect.

Up to 5 inches of snow and sleet is possible, with the potential for up to a tenth of an inch of ice from freezing rain.

Snow is expected to begin after 1 a.m. Monday, changing to sleet and freezing rain Monday afternoon.

It’s expected to be all freezing rain by Monday evening, gradually changing to all rain late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

“Snow and ice will cause slippery roads and travel will be difficult,” according to the National Weather Service.
