Herndon College Students Earn Accolades At Their Schools

Patch highlights the academic achievements of Herndon college students.

HERNDON, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Herndon area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

Bryan Saylor of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of business administration in management, during commencement ceremonies in December at Radford University in Radford, Virginia.

Emily Postlethwait, a member of the Herndon High School class of 2018, graduated summa cum laude from Goucher College with a degree in psychology. Postlethwait was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and is also Goucher College’s nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.

Matthew Krill of Herndon was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 term at the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. To earn a spot on the dean's list, a student must be enrolled in 15 or more graded hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Priya Latha Kumar of Herndon was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at Marymount University.

Julia Mitchell of Herndon was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at Longwood University.

Arden Titus of Herndon was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at the University of Delaware.

Abbey Setlik of Herndon has been named to the 2022 spring semester dean's list at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. To be named to the dean's list, students must earn a 3.5 or better grade point average in all applicable classes.

Colin Rill of Herndon has enrolled at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland as a member of the class of 2026. Rill is a graduate of the New School Northern Virginia.

Mariam Aldoseri of Herndon was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at George Mason University.

Herndon students Chiranjiv Jayeshkumar Chevli, Avinash Chandra Kolla, and Khadija Udaipurwala graduated from Campbellsville University during commencement ceremonies in May.

Lucy Waite of Herndon was selected by the Virginia Aviation Business Association to be the recipient of the 2022 Charles J. Colgan Aviation and Aerospace Scholarship, which is worth $2,000. Waite recently completed her freshman year at the Virginia Tech College of Engineering, where she is studying aerospace engineering. She is pursuing a career in aerospace.

Dylan Hardin, Ryan Niebla, Bryce Peterson, Daitlyn Salisbury, Leland Jenkins and Mark Seamon-Luciani, who are all from Herndon, were named to the winter 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. To earn a spot on the president's list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.7 or above.

Jacob Kleppetsch from Herndon was named to the winter 2022 dean's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. To earn a spot on the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.500 to 3.699 on 12 credit hours.

Lucas Buermeyer of Herndon received a bachelor's degree in robotics engineering and mechanical engineer from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, during the university's 153rd commencement exercises on Saturday, May 14.

Margaret McAndrew of Herndon was among the members of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's class of 2022, who received an MD degree at commencement ceremonies held Sunday, May 15.

The following local students graduated from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia:

  • Cole Cooksey of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of arts in business administration.
  • Lucas Johnson of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of arts in business administration.
  • Sienna Sullivan of Herndon graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in professional writing and psychology.
  • John Vetter of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of arts in business administration.

The following local students were named to the spring 2022 dean's list at from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia:

  • Sienna Sullivan of Herndon is a member of the Class of 2022 and a professional writing and psychology double major at Bridgewater.
  • John Vetter Jr. of Herndon is a member of the Class of 2022 and a business administration major at Bridgewater.

To earn a spot on the dean's list, students must have attained a 3.4 grade point average or better.

The following local students were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York:

  • Kayla Elizabeth Grace Gault of Herndon is a sophomore majoring in biology.
  • Rachel Nicole Mietlicki of Oak Hill is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering.

To earn a spot on the dean's list, students must have attained a 3.24 grade point average or better and also carry 14 credit hours.

Devin McKibbin of Herndon is one of more than 700 students named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. To be named to the dean's list, students must maintain a 3.4 grade point average. McKibbin is pursuing a bachelor of music in audio and music production at The Valley and is a graduate of Bishop O'Connell High School.

Elise Velasquez and Kaylan Schoenefeldt, who are both from Herndon, were named to the spring 2022 president's list at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. To earn a spot on the president's list, students must have attained a 3.9 grade point average or better on 12 semester hours.

Katherine Salmon of Herndon excelled during the spring 2022 semester at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean's list.

Steven Jackson Herd of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in computer science from McDaniel College in Westminister, Maryland on May 21.

Brian Longino of Herndon was named to spring 2022 honor roll lists at the University of Mississippi in University, Mississippi. Longino, who is majoring in general business, was named to chancellor's honor roll by earning a grade point average of 3.75-4.00 for the semester.

David Pearlman of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of arts in political science, during commencement ceremonies in May at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.

Ekaterina Graf of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of science in parks recreation and tourism, during commencement ceremonies in May at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.

Shucheng Chi of Herndon graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration, during commencement ceremonies in May at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.

Benjamin Speyer of Herndon was named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. To be named to the dean's list, Lehigh students must earn a 3.6 grade point average or higher, while carrying at least 12 credit hours.

Lauren Hollis of Oak Hill, who is majoring in professional writing and information design, was named to the dean's list for spring 2022 at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. To be named to the dean's list, a CU student must obtain a 3.5 grade point average or higher while carrying 12 or more credit hours.

Anthony Shelby of Herndon, a sophomore economics major, was named to the spring 2022 dean's list at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester.

The following local students were awarded degrees during May 2022 commencement ceremonies at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia:

  • Gabriela Kassar Sanchez of Herndon graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business management.
