Alexandria Love Your Pet Day Rebranded As Paws in the Park In 2022

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Love Your Pet Day will now be known as Paws in the Park as it returns in 2022 to Oronoco Bay Park.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free festival features an entertainment stage, vendors, food, drinks and adoptable animals. Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome at the event.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which coordinates adoptions for the city's animal shelter pets and provides other services to pet owners such as a pet pantry.

Adoptable animals will be on site for potential adopters as part of Rescue Row sponsored by Amazon. Organizations with pets on site will be the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, America's K-9 Caring Angels, Australian Shepherds Furever, Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue, Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue, Squishy Face Crew Virginia and Tails High Inc.

The main stage sponsored by the Alexandria Library Foundation will feature entertainment after opening remarks at 11 a.m. The performance schedule includes bilingual music group Uno Dos Très Andrés at 11:30 a.m., children’s musician Groovy Nate at 12:45 p.m. classic and modern pop and rock by Justin Paschalides at 2 p.m., and jazz trio Bill Cabrera and Company at 3:15 p.m.

Food and beverage vendors will be part of a food court and beer garden. Participating vendors so far include Ana’s Twist, A.M. Kettle, The Big Cheese, Lost Boy Cider, Port City Brewing Company, Sip Coffee Inc. and Woodlawn Press Winery.

Other community vendors and animal focused organizations will participate as vendors. Some of the vendors include Alexandria Pet Care, Bark + Boarding, Becky's Pet Care, Del Ray Animal Hospital, DoggyWalker.com, Dogtopia of Alexandria, The Extra Mile Pets: Handmade by Antje, Frolick Dogs, Grateful Pup Dog Treats, Leashes of Valor, Margaret’s Saving Grace Bully Rescue, Passionately Pets, PawsGo, Pawsh Dog Wash, Pawsh Pet Boutique, Pet Gear by Debbie, South Paw Satchels, VCA Animal Hospitals, Vets to Pets and Wholistic Hound Academy. More vendors are being added as the event gets closer.
