Alexandria Pet Of The Week: A Grinch-Like Cat For Christmas

This cat has been described as Grinch-like, but he's most likely to steal your heart this Christmas.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — While tabby cat Nelson initially appears standoffish, he has been dubbed a "Grinch" by his friends at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

But the only thing he might steal this Christmas is your heart. And with a new home for the holidays, his heart may grow three sizes.

Nelson is one of the adoptable pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria this holiday season. Patch regularly features adoptable pets from the animal shelter.

Here is more information on Nelson:

Nelson is a male, 9-year-old buff tabby cat with an expressive face and green eyes. He can initially come across as a little standoffish with a bit of a "catitude." But Nelson has made outstanding progress with his Grinch-like behavior. This month, Nelson was voted as our cat "EmPAWlee of the Month" for "officially stealing Christmas, but then returning it" like his doppelgänger the Grinch. We're convinced his Grinchy heart has grown at least three sizes! Now, Nelson will welcome visitors with some enthusiastic yowls for attention and chin scratches. Nelson is a very smart kitty who loves to play with puzzle toys and watch "cat TV." We do think Nelson will thrive in a home as the only pet - one where he doesn't have to share any roast beast feasts! If you think this kitty with a big purrsonality is right up your alley, come visit him at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. During the month of December, adoption fees for our small mammals, as well as our adult dogs and cats, are waived thanks to Priority Automotive.
