Alexandria Pet Of The Week: Oscar Seeks Home After Long Shelter Stay

ALEXANDRIA, VA — At Patch, we regularly feature adoptable pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to help them find homes.

The animal shelter has a variety of pets for all lifestyles and personal preferences. For the dog lovers out there, Oscar could be a great companion. This 7-year-old dog is house trained and well-behaved. Perhaps he could be the perfect companion for walks and lazy days on the couch. His adoption fees has already been covered by a sponsor.

Adoptable Oscar has been with us since September -- and that's just too long, especially for a loveable, well-mannered pup like him. Oscar is a 7-year-old male dog who has an excellent resume. Just look:

• He's housetrained.
• He's extremely well-behaved and well-mannered.
• He's an excellent leash walker.
• He knows when it's time to relax and will nap the day away.
• He knows what is a toy -- and, more importantly, what isn't.

His foster pawrent said he's the best foster pup she's ever had! Walks (with stops for sniffs) are his absolute favorite. Once he's had his walk, he's content to lounge on the couch all day. He has never had an accident and is a great advocate for his own needs -- letting you know when he needs to go out and when he wants to play a little game of tug-of-war. He loves to cuddle and has a zest for life that's contagious.
