ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two is better than one when it comes to guinea pigs. Most of the time, these furry critters do well living with other guinea pigs rather than alone.

Mooney and Juney are a pair of adoptable guinea pigs from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. The organization, which runs the city's animal shelter, is hosting its annual calendar contest and fundraiser throughout June. The contest allows pet owners to submit their pet photos to be featured in the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria 2025 calendar, and pets with the most votes will win grand prizes. Proceeds benefit the organization's work to serve animals and pet owners.

Don't have a pet yet? Mooney and Juney are ideal for homes that don't have room for a dog or cat or simply families that appreciate these little furry potatoes.
