ALEXANDRIA, VA — When Aurora came to the Alexandria Welfare League of Alexandria, she was a stray who was never claimed. After being treated for unhealthy skin, she's ready to shine in a new home.

Patch regularly features adoptable pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Aurora is one of these adoptable pets and would do well with owners that can patiently help her with training and socializing.

Aurora is a 2-year-old female dog who is looking for a stable home. She came to us as a found animal and sadly no one came searching for her. She arrived with patchy, unhealthy skin, but thanks to proper nutrition and some medication, she's looking as beautiful as the northern lights! She's been a little shy and timid since her arrival, but is slowly blossoming into a social, playful pup. She likes to go on walks and has been working on her "check-in" behavior versus trying to chase all those pesky squirrels. Aurora enjoys playing with toys independently, but hasn't really figured out fetch yet. We think Aurora will continue to thrive with a family who is willing to continue working with her on her training.
