VIENNA, VA — Drivers on a Hunter Mill Road bridge in the Vienna-Reston area no longer need to face one-way traffic.

The reconstructed Hunter Mill Road bridge, located between Dulles Toll Road and Baron Cameron Avenue over Colvin Run, is fully open, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced Wednesday. The new bridge provides two-way traffic and a median with landscaping separating the lanes to improve traffic. The project also provided an improved trail crossing south of the bridge and room for a future trail bridge over Colvin Run that will be built by Fairfax County.

The previous bridge, dating back to 1974, was weight restricted and had one-way traffic that required traffic in the other direction to yield. The bridge had partially opened to one-way traffic in late June as VDOT constructed the other half.
