VIENNA, VA — Pet owners in Vienna: it's time to give some well-deserved recognition to your companions.

Mayor Linda Colbert will begin an ongoing recognition called Mayor’s Pet of the Week starting the week of July 4. Residents are asked to submit their pets to be featured each week. Each Monday at noon, a different pet will be featured on the Town of Vienna's Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages.

"Studies show that pets can help decrease stress in their human companions, improve heart health and even help children with their emotional and social skills," said Colbert in a statement. "Whether you own a pet or not, these stories will surely make your day!"

Nominations are being accepted on an ongoing basis. To submit your pet, send an email to [email protected] with the following information: your pet’s name, type of pet, three reasons why your animal should be the Mayor’s Pet of the Week, and a photo of your pet alone or with you or your family.
