What does Spring Break look like for you and your family?

For some families whose children rely greatly on free or reduced price school meals, Spring Break can be a stressful time. Donate to Food For Neighbors so students have food to eat during the school holiday. Your generosity will provide grocery gift cards for some of our area’s most vulnerable students and their families.

Members of our community are really struggling to afford basic necessities. Our partnering schools have shared heart-wrenching stories about some students having to work one or two jobs in order to have food at home and about others living in homes cobbled together with plywood and duct tape. It’s astonishing that hard-working parents with two jobs each are finding it difficult to provide a sufficient amount of food for their children to live an active and healthy life.

These struggles are made worse during Spring Break, when students don’t have access to their free or reduced price school meals. Our goal is to raise $37,000 to provide $50 grocery gift cards for up to 740 of the most vulnerable students we serve. Imagine your gift making it possible for one or more students and their families to have a fully satisfying meal that gives them the energy to enjoy their time together.

Food For Neighbors: Hunger Is Closer Than You Think
Food For Neighbors (FFN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to end child hunger in Northern Virginia. Focusing on the otherwise underserved teen population, FFN raises awareness, mobilizes communities, and partners with local secondary schools to connect supplemental food, toiletries, and/or grocery gift card resources with students in need.
