Syrup Dumped On Pickleball Court In Vienna: Police

Vienna Police received a report of syrup poured on a pickleball court, which has been the site of noise complaints.

VIENNA, VA — A pickleball court in Vienna that has drawn noise complaints appeared to be vandalized several times, according to police.

An incident of syrup being poured on the Glyndon Park pickleball court happened between midnight and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 25. A resident reported it to police and noted there had been another incident with liquid poured on the court on Oct. 11.

There was no suspect description provided.

The pickleball court has been the source of noise complaints, leading Vienna Town Council to limit pickleball hours. Reservations are now required to use the pickleball courts during specified hours. Access to the pickleball nets requires a call to the Vienna Community Center to receive a lock combination.

On October 25, the business owner reported someone vandalized the door of the business with spray paint on October 24.

October 25 between 11:55 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
An employee reported a man stole an Apple watch from the store.

Suspicious Event 23-009987
Kramer Drive and Echols Street, SE
October 27 2:40 p.m.
A juvenile reported a suspicious man in a vehicle at the school bus stop. The juvenile called her mother who responded to the bus stop to pick up her daughter. When the mother attempted to confront the man, he drove away.

Arrest - Assault 23-010087
200 Block Cedar Lane, SE October 30 between 9:40 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Officers responded to the area for a dispute between neighbors over one of them leaving their dog's waste outside of their building. The man advised that he and his brother confronted the dog's owner, resulting in an altercation. The dog's owner advised his two neighbors assaulted him while he was picking up the waste, causing minor injury. Rescue responded to treat the small cut, but the man refused transport to a medical facility. The parties were advised of the warrant process should they wish to pursue charges. Later in the day, the dog owner obtained summonses from the magistrate's office for both men charging Simple Assault. On October 31, Ofc. Fitchue served the summonses on the 41-year-old man from Cedar Lane, SE, in Vienna, and the 26-year-old man from Breckenridge Court in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The men were released on their signatures.
