VIENNA, VA — A Vienna Woods resident filed a police report after his home surveillance camera captured video of a teen damaging his car by jumping on its hood and roof last week.

Sean S. and his wife returned to their home near Cedar Lane and Cottage Street around 1:45 p.m. on May 20 to discover that someone had damaged their car.

"The center brake light is broken, as the young man jumped on the spare tire and broke the light," Sean S. told Patch in an email on Wednesday. "The hood also was dipped, but we were able to pop that back up."

Fortunately, the home's Ring camera captured video of a suspect standing on top of the car the couple left locked and parked in their carport.

The video shows a young man wearing a baseball cap and carrying a large backpack approach the car from the backyard. After dropping the backpack, he hops up onto a brick wall that borders the driveway and from there leaps onto the roof of the car.

Walking across the roof, the young man jumps onto the hood and then back onto the roof again, before launching himself in the air and landing in the grass nearby. He then scoops up his backpack and walks off across the yard.

All through the 24-second video, the young man is holding a cellphone and wearing blue wireless headphones. He also appears to be recording a video. Right before the suspect leaves, he speaks into the phone, saying what sounds like, "Maybe I'll break a window, too."

"On that same day, my next door neighbor also saw a young man go into his shed and use the fire extinguisher, blasting it off," Sean S. said. "When my neighbor ran out, the young man fled."

Sean S. notified the Town of Vienna Police Department, filed a report, and posted the video on the Neighbors app.

When asked what resolution he hoped for, Sean S. said: "For the young man to be arrested and held accountable for fixing the damage to my car."
